Why Many Realtors are using Social Media Networks to Market a Home

It’s always been said “it’s not what you know but who you know” and social media networks have made it easier to share our opinions not only locally but around the world. Social networking sites bring people together to communicate in ways we never imagined.

With the growing introduction of social media tools realtors are now able to market their word-of-mouth marketing more successfully and more effectively.

Realtors have learned that you can grow your network and expand your range with people you wouldn’t normally have access to. Everyone lives in a rushed society; go, go, go is the norm and customers do not have time for ad speak. Social Media networks speak directly to the customer in a way that is unencumbered. It provides ways to get your message out naturally and organically without the usual marketing tactics of blatant advertising.

Word of mouth marketing is immediate and less costly for the realtor and more effective for the homeowner. It’s solicited from a targeted group, making it much more personal and to the point. It really puts control into the customer’s hands – you know exactly what is hot, what is not and where you should place more effort.

When people get a product referral from someone they know or trust they are much more likely to follow it. So the value of social networking is two fold:

1. Realtors connect with other like-minded individuals looking for the same information. Real estate agents are able to organize and share information they find valuable, including homes and neighborhoods.

2. Social networking helps to drive traffic to your home from people who find the information interesting and valuable and want to find out more.

Take a look at Facebook – over 3,000,000 members to market to at a cost of $0. That’s right your agent can advertise to more prospects online in social networking sites freely with endless opportunities, 24/7. And if they want to change your marketing concept by refreshing the script, they just do it. It doesn’t cost a dime.

You get to act out right in front of a crowd; answer questions, solve problems and interact with the crowds. It’s incredible advertising and potential clients get to see your work in real time and you’ll easily draw a crowd.

Print advertising has changed and in just a few years will inevitably become obsolete. Real estate professionals have realized the value of online influencers. The Web is quick and easy and most people today prefer it.

Be sure to ask your realtor about their social media marketing plan!
